RCS is a Custom Chassis/Roll Cage and Engine Shop located in Scottsburg, Oregon that specializes in 1995 thru 2005 Dodge Neon's. We strive to build Safe, Durable and Dependable Race Cars at a Reasonable Price that are Easy to Maintain and Repair by the Average Person.
We chose the Dodge Neon Platform for our Race Chassis for many reasons. Foremost being Price. Price and Availability of Cars, and Price and Availability of Parts (New & Used) both play into being able to build You a Safe, Ready to Run Race Car that will Meet all the IMCA & WISSOTA Sport Compact Class Safety Requirements, which makes them Legal in most any Sport Compact Class, at most any Track.
In our Opinion there are not many Sport Compacts out there that are as Popular and Competitive as the Neon while still remaining Easy and Inexpensive to Maintain and Repair. Parts Cars are generally pretty easy to find at a reasonable price. New parts are fairly inexpensive, and used parts are plentiful at the Wrecking Yards. They also require very few special tools to work on them, and very few tools to work on them period.
Our Engines are Built for Dependability, without breaking the Budget. Whether built to Stock Specs or Built to Your Specs, we offer 1st and 2nd Gen Neon 2.0L Short Blocks, Long Blocks and Engine Rebuilding Services.
Our Spec Car Engines are the biggest factor when setting the price of a finished Spec Car. They range from one getting a General Inspection and Compression Check, New Water Pump/ Timing Belt & Component Replacement and Gasket/Seal Replacement to one getting New Rings and Bearings along with all of the above mentioned parts all the way to a Complete Engine Overhaul, with a Fresh Bore, New Pistons/Rings/Rod/Main Bearings, Rod Bolts, Oil Pump, Water Pump, Timing Belt and Tensioner, All New Gaskets and Seals, New Head Bolts and New Intake/Exhaust Valves and Seals.
Before we start a Car Build we look for a Rust and Damage Free Chassis and start off with the complete removal of all unnecessary parts. Then it is thoroughly power washed inside and out. The Engine and Transmission are pulled out for any further work required on them and the Wiring Harness is stripped and extra wiring is removed. The Harness is then Rewrapped and Repositioned to fit with the New Dash and OEM Instrument Panel and Push Button Start. The Steering Column is also stripped and reconfigured for more downward adjustment.
Once all the Interior Wiring is done and Loomed, the Chassis is prepped for a Dickinson Frontier 50 IMCA Compliant Roll Cage with Adjustable Seat Mounts. The Cage is mounted to the Rocker Panels on fully welded 1/4" Plating. Once the Cage is fully Installed and Gusseted, the 3 Bar Driver Guard and Driver Door Plate are welded in and then the Cage is Primed and Painted, the Dash work is finished and the Windscreen is installed. Then it's on to Safety Equipment and Interior Details.
From that point all focus is given to the Suspension, we R&R all the Rubber Bushings on the Front Suspension and check Brakes and Bearings in the Process. Then we adjust the Camber on the F&R Suspension, Set up the Toe on the Front End and do some Spring Adjustments to reset the Crossweight for better Traction and Control.
When Finished every Chassis still has fully Removable Doors and Body Panels for ease of Maintenance and Replacement. The Dash, Instrument Panel and Wiring are all easily accessible as well as being protected from the Weather.
