This explains exactly how points work, including bonuses, minimums, and how championships are decided.
***** 1. OSCRA TRACK STATUS
OSCRA currently has two (2) officially confirmed participating tracks
One (1) additional track is leaning toward joining
OSCRA is in active conversations with several more tracks
The goal is to have all participating tracks finalized before the season opens
The points system is designed to work no matter how many tracks participate, without needing rule changes.
***** 2. WHAT RACES COUNT FOR POINTS?
Every OSCRA race counts.
If:
The race is run under OSCRA rules, and
You take the green flag in the feature
That race earns OSCRA championship points.
There are:
No special points nights
No races that “don’t count”
If you race, you earn points.
***** 3. HOW POINTS ARE EARNED
Points are earned based on feature race finishing position
Better finish = more points
Only the feature finish counts
You do not earn points for:
Heat races
Qualifying
Practice
***** 4. FINISHING VS. STARTING
If you start the feature, you earn finishing points
Even if you wreck, break, or get lapped
However:
You must finish under your own power to earn travel bonus points
***** 5. HOME TRACK
Each driver declares one home track when joining OSCRA
Home track is locked after your first OSCRA race
Cannot be changed during the season
Your home track:
Earns full finishing points
Does not earn travel bonus points
***** 6. TRAVEL POINTS
Travel points reward drivers who race away from their home track.
+2 bonus points for each race night
Must be at an OSCRA track other than your home track
Must:
Start the feature
Finish under your own power
***** 7. TRAVEL POINTS CAP
Travel points are capped at 10 points per non-home track per season
After 5 away races at the same track:
You still earn finishing points
You no longer earn travel points at that track
This prevents point farming.
***** 8. BEST FINISHES COUNT
Only your best 10 finishing results count toward the championship.
This:
Protects drivers from bad luck
Keeps championships close
Helps budget racers stay competitive
You may race more than 10 times — only your top 10 finishes are used.
Travel and bonus points are added on top.
***** 9. MINIMUM STARTS
To be eligible for:
Championship standings
End-of-season awards
You must compete in at least 6 OSCRA race nights.
***** 10. ALL-TRACK BONUS
(Only Applies When OSCRA Has 3 or More Tracks)
What It Is
When OSCRA has three (3) or more participating tracks, a one-time +5 championship point bonus is awarded to drivers who race at every OSCRA Participating Track during the season.
This bonus rewards full-series commitment.
How You Earn It
You earn the All-Track Bonus by:
Racing at least one OSCRA feature
At each OSCRA Participating Track
Any time during the season
Once you have raced all OSCRA tracks, the bonus is awarded.
Important Clarifications
Bonus is +5 points
Awarded once per season
Added on top of your normal points
Does not replace one of your best 10 finishes
Does not affect payout eligibility
If OSCRA Has Fewer Than 3 Tracks
The All-Track Bonus does not apply
Normal points and travel points still apply
No bonus is awarded in 2-track seasons
***** 11. PAYOUT RACES & POINTS
Payout races earn full OSCRA points
Points are never reduced for winning money
Points and payouts are separate systems
***** 12. PAYOUT LIMIT RULE
Each driver/car may win one OSCRA $500 payout per season
Additional wins pass payout money down the field
Hornet 100 finale is exempt
Points are still earned normally.
***** 13. DRIVER VS CAR
Points follow the driver
Payout eligibility follows the driver/car combination
***** 14. MID-SEASON ENTRIES
Drivers joining mid-season:
Earn points immediately
Earn travel points immediately
May earn the All-Track Bonus if requirements are met
Championship eligibility still requires 6 race nights.
***** 15. TIEBREAKERS
If championship points are tied:
Most feature wins
Most top-5 finishes
Most total OSCRA starts
Best finish in the finale
***** 16. AVERAGE-JOE SUMMARY
Every race counts
Finish better = more points
Travel = bonus points
Best 10 finishes count
Race 6 times to qualify
All-Track Bonus only applies if OSCRA has 3+ tracks
Same rules everywhere. If you show up, race clean, and stay involved — you’ll be competitive
